New Leash on Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of inmates and saving the lives of dogs. For 12-weeks we documented the progress of a class of six dogs: Marlon Brando, Lauren Bacall, Greta Garbo, Hattie McDaniel, Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant. These dogs were rescued from a shelter and paired with a prison inmate who was responsible for the dog’s training.

New Leash on Life requested a series of short films that featured the work of the organization. We were able to gain access inside the prison to document the  training program. We worked with the inmates, dogs, animal trainers and correctional officers to create the films. The films will be used by the organization to raise awareness of the program, attract supporters and build a community around a great cause.

The story of Humphrey Bogart, an at risk shelter-dog. We follow Humphrey Bogart, from his first day to graduation day,  and watch his progress— thanks to the help of his handlers.

An in-depth look inside the classes the prison inmates participate in to enhance their life skills and job readiness. We also show training techniques the inmates use to train the dogs.

Shows how the organization provides training and education to inmates that they can take with them upon parole. The video also features training and socialization of the dogs. With specialized training, some dogs will go on to benefit veterans with PTSD and their families.
